The Michigan Boating Industries Association is a non-profit trade association dedicated to the promotion, protection and advancement of the recreational boating industry in Michigan. The MBIA currently represents more than 350 marine businesses in Michigan and serves as the voice of recreational boating in Michigan.
The MBIA was established in 1958 by marine businessmen dedicated to the betterment of the overall boating industry. Through the years, the MBIA has come to achieve recognition as one of the most productive and progressive marine trade associations in the nation. The MBIA is the premier boat show producer in the state of Michigan. The Detroit Boat Show held in February at Huntington Place (formerly Cobo Center) is known as one of the top shows in the country for sales, size and attendance and the Novi Boat Show held in March at the Suburban Collection Showplace is a strong follow-up show catering to the surrounding suburban areas. The MBIA also produces the Metro Boat Show in September at Lake St. Clair Metropark.
