Deadline for public comment regarding the proposed new policy, sediment testing for dredging project

The DEQ, Water Resources Division is accepting written comments on a proposed new policy, Sediment Testing for Dredging Projects, through July 28, 2017. The proposed policy identifies when sediment testing is required and how results will be used when processing applications for permits------- under authority of Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams; Part 303, Wetlands Protection; and Part 325, Great Lakes Submerged Lands, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended (NREPA).The proposed policy is available below.

The Department of Environmental Quality intends to rescind the current Departmental policy, Dredge Sediment Review, 09-018, upon approval of a final Water Resources Division policy as some of the provisions of the current policy are inconsistent with recent statutory amendments to Part 115, Solid Waste Management, of the NREPA.
