Your MBIA Executive Director Nicki Polan and Board Directors Jim Coburn and Amy Crouchman attended a working lunch during the American Boating Congress in Washington D.C. which addressed the labor shortage for our industry.  MBIA has begun working with Macomb Community College to create a program which can be shared across the state.  Additonally, MBIA is working to bring knowledge to the public about the exciting and plentiful careers our industry can provide.  This effort will include a page on our website where we will be listing employment opportunities.  Please send us your job postings and we will put them up for 2 weeks at which time you will need to resubmit them if they are still open.  “We are very pleased with the potential and the progression toward building Marine Education Programs in Michigan.  The only reason this effort has paused is due to the outpouring of information coming from across the country,” said Polan. “It has been agreed on the national level that there are efficiencies to be had if we all work together on this, sharing curriculum, promotion ideas, research, etc.  For Michigan, however, our goal remains to have something in place by September 2017 if possible.”
