State Awards $3.6 M for Invasive Species Projects

Last week, the State of Michigan announced the 32 projects around the state that will share $3.6 million in grants through the Michigan Invasive Species Grant Program, which looks to address prevention, detection, eradication and control of aquatic and terrestrial invasive species in Michigan. This year’s grants will provide funding for a range of efforts to control aquatic invasive species though outreach and increasing compliance with new “Clean, Drain, Dry” boating laws and surveying boaters about willingness to decontaminate their gear and vessels. “We are pleased to see dedicated funding to this important step in maintain our water quality in Michigan,” said MBIA Executive Director Nicki Polan.
