MBIA announces new branding for 3 southeast region boat shows

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

June, 2016 – The Michigan Boating Industries Association, producer of three annual metro-Detroit boat shows, including the Detroit Boat Show, announces exciting new changes in re-branding their shows with new logos, and for two of their shows, new names.

“It is a difficult decision to re-name an event after 25 years of success, however after our research we are confident the renaming of our two shows makes perfect sense,” said MBIA Executive Director & Manager of Shows, Nicki Polan. “We are confirming to the public what they relate to most when it comes to boat shows - where it is and what it is.”

Two shows will get new names and all will get updated logos. “As far as the new logos go, this is an opportunity to align our show logos with the new, modern innovations being featured at our shows. Boat shows are much different today, offering new and exciting products and features – our logos are a reflection of this innovation,” said Polan. The logos are also meant to show unity among the “sister” shows.

1. The 59th annual Detroit Boat Show has a long history in the Motor City and will be held February 11-19 in 2017 at Cobo Center. This show, deemed as the original, biggest and best boat show in Michigan, ranks among the biggest in the country in terms of size, attendance and sales activity.

2. The Novi Boat Show, formerly known as the Spring Boating Expo, will be March 16-19, 2017 at the Suburban Collection Showplace. Commonly referred to as the “time to buy” boat show, it’s one of the last of the season and brings in a very highly qualified buying audience as it is positioned as the last opportunity official boat show before spring launch. In 2018, the show will expand with the growing Novi facility.

3. The Metro Boat Show, formerly known as the Boating & Outdoor Festival, will be held this September 15-18, 2016 at the Lake St. Clair Metropark. This show will debut a significantly larger footprint this year, expanding into the Shore and North Marina, due to demand for slips from exhibitors.

“As boating has rebounded in the state of Michigan for the past 7 consecutive years, our shows have also grown in size, attendance and sales activity,” said Polan. “We’re look forward to continued growth and to making our events even better for Michigan boaters and our exhibitors in the future.”
