Space Discounts for Members at three of Michigan's Premier Boat Shows
MBIA members pay a lower rate for space at MBIA boat shows. Currently the association produces the Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Center in Detroit and the Spring Boating Expo at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi.

MBIA has representation in Lansing to monitor and lobby recreational boating issues to assure the views of the marine industry are heard and the industry does not suffer under unnecessary or unfair legislation and/or regulations. MBIA also monitors Federal legislation issues in Washington D.C. and works with national marine associations on a coalition basis.

Legal Services Benefit
Members are now offered free or discounted services from MBIA's legal counsel, Jim Stewart of Kotz Sangster. Each member is entitled to one free phone call or office visit per fiscal year (one hour limit). Maritime leins, general business contracts and many other issues that come up in businesses could be reasons to utilize this benefit. For extended service (up to 10 hours), Kotz Sangster will offer a discounted rate of $250 per hour*. *Other rates and any engagement or retainer packages will need to be discussed and agreed to with the member based upon the nature and complexity of the legal matter.

The MBIA advertises its mid-west toll free number (800-932-BOAT) for boaters looking for products and services. The MBIA receives hundreds of calls and directs all customers directly to MBIA members.
Alternative Dispute Resolution Program
The ADR Program is designed to provide marine businesses and consumers an alternative method of resolving disputes (mediation & arbitration) versus participating in costly, time-consuming litigation.
MBIA develops positive public relations programs, which promote boating safety and boating as a recreation. These campaigns and continual press releases focus on the ease, fun and affordability of boating and direct potential buyers to your business.
