RBEC Session Highlight – OSHA’s Maritime Emphasis in MI

Tuesday, November 14, 2017   (0 Comments)

Federal and State OSHA safety professional(s) will speak about Federal/State OSHA, in general, and differences between Federal and State Jurisdiction.  This presentation will include, a general overview of what to expect during an inspection, what the compliance officer(s) focus on, your rights and obligations during and after the inspection, and specific information on the hazards that have been found during past Maritime inspection, to include photographs and corrective actions. The goal is to inform Marina’s owners/laborers in Michigan about OSHA and to promote correction of safety hazards prior to an inspection under the Maritime Emphasis Program. There will be time for Q&A - this will be one you DO NOT want to miss! “Last year Grand Pointe Marina was inspected by MI-OSHA, it was an unexpected visit.  Overall the inspection went great.  We owe this positive news to the MBIA and your staff, properly informing our dealership and training us for the unexpected.  My father, Pat took this info to heart and worked feverishly on updating all of our facilities and procedures, so our work environment would be up to date with today’s standards.  Please pass this note around, along with our companies thanks to the MBIA board and staff for continuing to make it a priority for OSHA training.  Because of everyone’s efforts we had minimal bad news or surprises and the inspection officer was very positive on what he saw at our facility.  Everyone’s hard work finally paid off.” - Chris Stevens, Grand Pointe Marina
