Today, MBIA members from SE Michigan had the opportunity to meet with U.S. Congressman Fred Upton to review the issues important to our industry.  The group talked about the need for funding for dredging and infrastructure, control and eradication of invasive species including Asian Carp, access to ethanol free fuel, tax reform and protecting the 2nd home interest deduction on boats, the oil pipeline, and more.  “Congressman Upton represents a strong boating district and knows our industry well, and the impact it has on Michigan’s economy.  We also took the opportunity to share with him some of our state issues explaining how important Post Labor Day School Start and Daylight Savings Time are to our industry and many others,” said MBIA’s Nicki Polan.  “Congressman Upton was the impetus behind Daylight Savings Time here in Michigan and we are very grateful for his efforts.  He will work to help us keep these two important pieces of legislation.”
