The Recreational Boating Industries Educational Foundation (RBIEF)
The MBIA mission is to advance, protect and promote the recreational boating industry in Michigan. In our efforts to advance the industry, we have made a commitment to provide education and support to all of our members. To facilitate this education, the MBIA has created a scholarship foundation to financially assist the professional development of those in the marine industry called the Recreational Boating Industries Educational Foundation (RBIEF).
RBIEF, a not-for-profit 501(c)3 corporation, was founded in 1986, to provide financial support for education, training and professional development in the recreational marine trades.
Specifically, RBIEF’s purpose is to offer financial assistance through full or matching tuition and program funding for MBIA members, member’s employees, family and students whenever funding is available.
Opportunities are outlined below, however, RBIEF will be open to other suggested proposals which serve to help MBIA members and the boating industry in Michigan.

Industry education serves to further educate MBIA members which supports the growth of our industry.
2. College Scholarships
Traditional educational scholarship awards made to MBIA members, employees of members, and family members of members who are enrolled or enrolling in higher education or technical courses and who have an interest in pursuing careers in the marine industry. This program serves to bring new and younger people to our industry and benefits the industry, members and the community at-large.
